Description:

This family-friendly Wilmette home underwent a thoughtful transformation to better suit the daily rhythms of a modern household—kids, dog, and all. With a design sensibility we’ve dubbed “Schoolhouse Modern,” we reimagined the entire first floor to be both stylish and incredibly functional. At the heart of the renovation is a custom kitchen designed entirely around how the family lives, complete with a dog bar, floating shelves, and ample cabinetry. A formerly standard-issue island was replaced with a fun blue centerpiece that now anchors the space, flanked by rift white oak cabinetry and accented with poured concrete countertops, a Swiss cross backsplash, and sleek black hardware.

Working with Laura Tribbett and the talented team at Outline Interiors exceeded our expectations from start-to-finish. Everyone was personable, collaborative, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. Outline Interiors transformed our first-floor from an inefficient, compartmental space to a cohesive, thoughtfully curated, and effortlessly beautiful haven! Laura has an exceptional eye for detail and a gift for marrying aesthetic with functionality, making you fall in love with where you live. Laura carefully considered our personal style and design ideas, tailored them, elevated them, and executed them flawlessly with creative concepts we never would have imagined ourselves. Laura and her team introduced materials, proportions and design details that breathe new energy and sophistication into our home… all while honoring our request for the space to be comfortable and inviting. The result is a home that feels intentional, timeless, and uniquely ours — we couldn’t love it more

The updates continue throughout the main level, with white oak flooring tying the spaces together. The family room now includes a custom dry bar and cozy TV area that connects seamlessly to the kitchen, while the living room features a striking concrete hearth and custom drapery that softens the space. In the powder room, a moody mix of tumbled black tile, patterned wallpaper, and a wall-mounted concrete sink brings high design to a small footprint. Thoughtful details like a paneled blue mudroom wall, vintage-inspired sconces, and a sculptural Hay pendant in the entry help strike a balance between form and function, giving this home a fresh, personal identity.
