Description:

Tucked inside a Mid-century Modern home in Chicago’s vibrant West Loop, this Primary Bathroom renovation was a total departure from its builder-grade beginnings. The professional couple behind the project—remote workers with a love for travel and a flair for the eclectic—sought a space that reflected their adventurous, design-forward spirit. Gone are the bulky jetted tub, black granite counters, and faux slate tile; in their place, a richly layered retreat full of character and contrast.

Working with Outline Interiors was such a wonderful experience! Laura and her team totally understood our vision from the start. We told them we wanted a bathroom that felt like the coolest hotel we’ve ever stayed in—something bold, luxurious, but still super relaxing—and they completely nailed it. The team made the whole process so easy and fun. They gave us 3 distinct vibes and we of course came back with a "frankendesign" combining the best of each. The team did a great job of creating a new singular direction that stood on its own.  We honestly couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Every time we walk into the bathroom, it feels like a little escape.

At the heart of the transformation is a bold Jennifer Shorto vinyl wallpaper—equal parts maximalist and practical—paired with green mosaic tile that envelopes the room, balancing drama with durability. This thoughtful combination of performance materials and playful design creates a space that feels both elevated and expressive. With its nods to global inspiration and Mid-century style, the final design is a joyful and deeply personal interpretation of modern luxury.
