Good news friends — Summertime Chi is in full swing! Even if you don’t live in Chicago, chances are that you too are enjoying some sunny skies and warmer temps. 🌞 While we’re not recommending that you redesign your home for each season (aint nobody got time for that) we do have some tips to spruce things up for summer.
First things first, there’s nothing like a good purge to get your home feeling clutter-free and ready for summer. We love a rainbow shelfie and an organized pantry! If you need to call in the pros, we love working with The Neat Method (tell @chicagoneat_betsy we said hey girl đź‘‹). Make sure to check out your local donation centers and see if they can use the things that you no longer need. 📦
Farmers Market season is in full swing (yay!), it’s time to ditch reduce your food delivery intake and pick up some fresh produce to inspire you to cook & eat in color. Trust us, your wallet (and waistline) will thank you, and there’s nothing better than supporting a local small biz. Bonus points: all of the yummy fruits + veggies add a beautiful pop of color to your kitchen! 🍊
Summertime, and the entertaining is easy. 🍹 Now is a great time to freshen up your bar with florals, plants, and some seasonal drink options. If you don’t have a dedicated bar space, a tray to contain your fun glasses & bar tools is a great alternative. In any capacity, utilize that fresh fruit from the farmers market to up your mixology game. Spicy margs, anyone? (mocktail for me..)
Surprise surprise, we’re only slightly obsessed with plants at Outline Interiors, and we think summer is the perfect time to flex your green thumb. Looking for a plant that’s hard to kill? We recommend picking up a snake plant, succulent, or zeze plant at your local grocery or hardware store. Perks: they’re low maintenance, inexpensive, and will instantly brighten your room. 🌿 If you’ve been thinking about getting a new plant, this is your sign to do it!
It’s all about the accessories! We believe in designing for all seasons, but a quick accessory swap is a fun way to brighten your space. Floral or citrus candles, a summery throw pillow, or a lighter-weight throw blanket are all great options. Sometimes it’s the smallest changes that can make your home feel super fresh! 🌞
